Chicago Braces

When it comes to straightening your teeth, times have changed. It used to be your only option was to wear uncomfortable metal wires and brackets for several years. Now, thanks to new technology there are several exciting options.

  • Traditional Braces - These are the traditional metal wires and brackets that you're used to.
  • Clear Braces - When clear ceramic brackets are used, the braces are less conspicuous.
  • Invisible Braces - Companies such as Invisalign and Clear Correct have developed this technique, which uses sophisticated computer technology to manufacture clear aligners that you wear on your teeth that gently push against your teeth and straighten them. The picture at the right shows a young man wearing traditional braces, and a young woman wearing Invisalign aligners.
  • Porcelain Veneers - In just two appointments, porcelain veneers can give you a straight smile. For this reason, porcelain veneers are sometimes called "instant orthodontics."

Traditional Braces

With traditional braces wires and brackets are used to put pressure on the teeth and gradually move them back into a correct position. Over several years the bands are tightened to keep the pressure on the teeth. One of the main advantages to traditional braces is they cannot be removed by the patient, which eliminates the possibility of children losing them. Today children and teens can get colored or multicolored bands to spruce up their look and express their personality. Some teenagers are so self conscience about the wires that they prefer the clear brackets and wires. Dr. Lopez provides those as well.

Clear Wire/Bracket Braces

These work the same way as traditional braces, but give a softer appearance that helps younger patients feel more comfortable with their smile. Dr. Lopez is happy to provide her patients with the orthodontic option that makes them most comfortable.

Invisalign Invisible Braces

With modern technology we are now able to provide braces that are completely invisible. Often, not even your closest friends notice you are wearing braces. These braces work faster than traditional braces. Plus, your teeth can be completely repaired in a year or less, which is much faster than the traditional route.
