Stabilize Your Dentures with Dental Implants

Implant Supported Dentures are More Comfortable and Secure

Conventional dentures are an efficient and affordable solution for missing teeth, yet many patients complain of their lack stability, need for pastes or adhesives and  replacement overtime. Instead of resting directly on your gum tissues for support, implant supported dentures are affixed to anywhere from two to eight dental implants which securely holds them in place. This unique characteristic makes them more comfortable and prevents them from slipping or causing sores.

Do You Need Implant Supported Dentures?

Missing teeth can cause the body to lose bone density over time, weakening the jaw. As the ridge shrinks, removable dentures can become loose and too uncomfortable to wear. Eating and talking may also be a challenge. By stabilizing your prosthesis with dental implants, you can avoid the embarrassment and discomfort associated with traditional “plates.”

Implant Supported Dentures vs. Traditional Dentures

As a holistic dentist, Dr. Lopez wants our Chicago, IL denture and implant patients to have a missing teeth solution that fits their lifestyle. Understanding the differences between overdentures and conventional plates can help you determine which one is best for your quality of life.

What’s Involved in Getting Implant Supported Dentures?

If you’re planning on getting a denture soon or having teeth removed, Dr. Lopez will discuss if you’re a candidate for implant supported dentures (in some cases, bone grafting may be needed.) Should you choose to move forward, our partnering oral surgeon will arrange to place 2-4 implants at our Chicago, IL holistic dental office and Dr. Lopez will deliver the full arch denture after the surgery is completed. Depending on your oral health and if other treatments are needed, the process may take 2-3 visits. Although quite a simple and straightforward procedure, some of our patients prefer to request oral sedation during their implant placement.
